Most of us select matching socks without a thought, but to a person who is visually impaired it can be a challenge.
As vision changes, a person is prompted to do things differently. Daily living skills instruction helps a person achieve every day tasks safely and easily. In the comfort of ones home, individuals are taught skills to maintain or reclaim his/her independence. We teach techniques to help a person care for themselves, enriching the quality of their life. Our clients learn safety methods in the kitchen and how to maintain a household. They are introduced to alternative methods for every day tasks like handling money. Different approaches for record keeping may include large print, Braille, computers or tape recorders. They learn eating skills, personal care and labeling techniques. Our clients learn about adaptive phones, check writing guides, books on tapes and talking items that may be helpful to them.
