How to Help

Donate Now!

The BVIC is sustained by fundraisers, grants and gifts from the generosity of caring individuals. We welcome your tax-deductible gifts that help us provide direct services to those who are challenged with the loss of vision. We also accept planned giving, including bequests, trusts and stocks. Volunteers are an important part of the BVIC team, helping with fundraising, assisting at the Tuesday Program and as readers.

We appreciate the generous support of Lions Building for the Blind, the organization that provides the facilities for the BVIC.

Vehicle Donation Program (Monterey County)

Chariots for Charity

The Old Capitol Lions Club of Monterey (Lions Club) in conjunction with the Blind & Visually Impaired Center of Montery County (BVIC) will utilize your Chariot for Charity in work for Monterey County residents who are blind or visually impaired.

What We Will Do
The Old Capitol Lions Club will handle the sale, evaluate the vehicle (car, truck, boat, or other vehicle), have it safety checked, and make it as salable as possible consistent with Blue Book values. We invest money and our time for every vehicle we accept. This benefits all those involved. The vehicle will be sold on your behalf and the resulting funds will benefit the Lions Club's work with the BVIC. The registration will be transferred to the new owner and the Lions Club will handle smog certification and DMV transfer documents. We will then acknowledge your donation by letter for your tax purposes. The BVIC is a non-profit, charitable organization under the IRS Code Section 501 (c ) 3. Individual tax situations vary so please check with a tax professional to determine how you may benefit.

What We Ask of You
Your signature on our Chariots for Charity donation form and the signed registration will enable the Lions Club to offer the vehicle for sale. It will be an added benefit if you will retain ownership and liability insurance until the vehicle is sold. Otherwise, the BVIC will take title to the vehicle as soon as the smog certificate can be issued. We appreciate your cooperation and patience in enabling us to get a fair price for the vehicle.

Should you have any questions please call Russ Hatch, the coordinator for the Chariots for Charity Program at 831-659-5360 or the BVIC at 831-649-3505.
