Support & Social Programs

We understand the importance of social interaction and support to people in all stages of vision loss. Our weekly Tuesday Program (except the last two weeks of December) is designed to offer opportunities for clients to get to know one another, provide peer support and engage in various activities. Our current programming is listed below.

Low Vision Peer Support Group

Attending our bi-monthly peer support group may be one of the most important things you can do for yourself. The group offers the opportunity to talk to others who have or are adjusting to vision loss, to share common concerns, frustrations and stories, ask questions and find solutions to your vision-related challenges.

Currently our Peer Support Groups meet in two locations:

225 Laurel Ave, Pacific Grove:
1st and 3rd Tuesday, 10:00-11:30am
No appointment is required.

Ceramic Art Class

There are many benefits to participating in ceramic art. Not only does art provide a great means of self-expression and creativity, it allows participants to escape from their daily routines, provides social interaction, and can increase strength, coordination and concentration. In addition, individuals make a variety of objects for personal use or to sell in our annual Country Store sale, which raises funds to support the costs of the supplies used in the class. No prior ceramic or art experience is required.

There is no charge to join us for the ceramic art class, but donations are accepted to help defray the cost.

Please note that transportation can be arranged through the Monterey County RIDES program for those who qualify. The RIDES program is only available to those who are unable to use the regular bus system in Monterey County. Monterey-Salinas Transit RIDES stops at the Center. Thanks to the generosity of the Episcopal Senior Communities, Monterey Peninsula Volunteer Services, Yellow Brick Road Benefit Shop and other generous donors, we are able to provide RIDES tickets for Tuesday Program participants who qualify for the RIDES program.

There is no charge to attend these activities, however donations are greatly appreciated.

Currently, all of these Tuesday activities are volunteer run, so please be sure to say thanks as some of them have been engaged for more than twenty years! If you know someone who would like to volunteer, please have them call the Executive Director at 831-649-3505.
