Our Low Vision Service Coordinator is a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) who coordinates with the optometrist to determine the best options for prescribed and not-prescribed low vision aids. She offers pre-clinical assessments and post-clinical training. Glare, inadequate lighting and poor contrast may exacerbate visual difficulties. A home visit will allow for functional assessment to determine which aids are most effective in your home setting. The Low Vision Service Coordinator recommends aids that can enhance visual functioning. UV sunshields, full spectrum lighting and magnifiers are beneficial options designed to increase the use of remaining vision.
“The Blind & Visually Impaired Center is very fortunate to have the expertise of Lucy Yen and Megan Carter. They are a remarkable team whose knowledge is only outshined by the care and commitment they lend to their patients.” — Steven Macias, Executive Director
